Rolly Gassmann Auxerrois Rotleibel de Rorschwihr 2019
100% Auxerrois
An expressive semi-sweet white wine from Alsace with a bright, fruit-forward and floral profile. The nose reveals layers of pineapple, melon, peach, and apricot, lifted by delicate floral notes. On the palate it is smooth, rounded, and generous, with balanced sweetness and a long, harmonious finish marked by ripe fruit.
Behind the wine stands Domaine Rolly Gassmann in the tiny village of Rorschwihr, home to just a few hundred residents. The estate has been family-run since 1611, making it one of the oldest winegrowing families in Alsace, with local winemaking traditions in the region dating back over a thousand years.
Despite its reputation among collectors and enthusiasts, the domaine remains outside the official Grand Cru system. Instead, it focuses entirely on terroir expression — working with 21 different soil types that give each vineyard parcel its own distinct voice.
The estate is also known for its patient, almost timeless approach to winemaking. Guided by biodynamic principles and minimal intervention, the family believes in allowing wine to evolve slowly and naturally. In fact, some wines from their cellar remain unreleased for decades, as they are considered not yet ready to show their full potential.
The result is wines with depth, individuality, and remarkable aging potential — true reflections of place, tradition, and time.
