Quinta de Couselo “Turonia” Albariño, Spain 2023
100% Albariño
Sun-kissed pineapple 🍍 and zesty lemon peel 🍋 greet you first, followed by juicy grapefruit, ripe nectarine, and a whisper of rose petals and honeysuckle. Layers of white blossoms and fresh herbs add intrigue. On the palate – refined, crisp, and effortlessly fresh. This is the perfect white to kick off an evening or a summer party with friends. It shines all on its own – no snacks required.
Why we love it:
Albariño is Spain’s ocean-born white, hailing from Galicia’s Rías Baixas region, where salty breezes, gentle rains, and golden sunshine shape its vibrant character. Think high acidity, lively citrus, peach, and a touch of minerality – a true taste of the Atlantic coast.
Legend has it that Albariño arrived in Spain in the 9th century with Benedictine monks from France or Germany. While science hasn’t confirmed the tale, the romance of that story still lingers in every glass.
Quinta de Couselo is one of the region’s heritage estates, founded in 1864. For more than a century it was family-owned, until 2013, when Galician winemaker José Manuel Martínez Juste took the helm. On the property stand two majestic, 250-year-old stone pines – icons that have graced the wine’s label for over 150 years, a symbol of deep roots and timeless connection to the land.
