Contino Reserva, Rioja, Spain 2016
Contino Reserva, Rioja, Spain 2016
85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo
Wine with an excellent nose, deep and with a great richness of aromas among which black fruits combined perfectly with floral aromas, aromatic herbs and infusion.
Contino, the first chateau in Rioja, was created in 1973 on the initiative of CVNE and the owners of 62 ha of land in Rioja. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century and is reflected in its name. “Contino” was the officer in charge of the guard corps of one hundred soldiers who protected the royal family “de contino” (continuously) since the time of the Catholic Monarchs. According to tradition, Saint Gregory, the patron saint of vineyards, walked through the lands of this very Rioja estate, which gave rise to the use of his figure in the logo of this winery, as well as the use of his name for some of the plots that are now planted with vines. The wine produced on this estate, fruity and elegant, is the heir to the best traditions of Rioja and is a reference product both in Spain and abroad.
