This medium dark ruby colored wine features bright aromas of raspberry and violets. The bright fruit profile and balanced mid-palate leads to subtle minerality in the finish.
Ideally served at 15 - 16 C/ 59- 61 F, this cheerful wine pairs well with pork and poultry, mussels, shrimp, and roasted chicken and potatoes, as well as grilled asparagus or Brussels sprouts. It nicely complements regional cheeses including Delice de Bourgogne, Morbier, and Comte.
Interesting facts:
The exquisite monopole vineyard, Clos de la Chapelle, has a long and colorful history dating back to 1495. The vineyard is named after the legendary chapel, which is famous for two miraculous events. In 1840, a place prayed by winegrowers saved the region from cholera, and in 1870 the Prussians miraculously stopped their raid and left the village untouched.
But the most important fact is that it was in this village that the Dukes of Burgundy built their castle in the 8th century, and it is from here that the formation of French Burgundy comes.
Domaine Clos de la Chapelle has been the heart of Burgundy for 6 centuries.
During the Domaine’s early era, Louis Pasteur fell in love with these wines and requested 50 bottles as samples to use in his research and testing of wine diseases.
